Aside from our lessons on how to make your own custom made shirts, designing and putting some extra stitches on it like an embroidery can make it look more fabulous. What about learning how to dye a yarn which can be used for crocheting and knitting? Sounds fun right? Dying your own yarns can make a unique personalized touch for any knitting projects. Just like in custom made shirts where you do a personalized selection on the kind of fabric and color to be used. There are actually several ways on how to dye a yarn at home. One of which is the hand dye method.

First, prepare everything a bucket of water, a cup of vinegar, yarn, and dye tablets. Loosen and untangle the yarn before the procedure so that you will not miss any sections of it once it get in touch with the solution. Now, take the large bucket with water and add the cup of vinegar the stir. Once soaked, put some weights on the yarn to keep it immersed in the solution for about an hour. After every batch of yarn, refresh the mixture by adding additional vinegar and water. Then use 3 tbsp of vinegar to dissolve the dye (you may also check the directions stated on the dye) of your choice.If you happen to choose colors such as pink, red, purple and orange it would be better if it will be dissolved in water. When it is dissolved completely, add water to obtain the correct shade you wanted.

Now, once the dye has completely dried, you may use it for a unique color combination for your knitted clothes. This is great too in making fabulous jackets during cold season over your casual wear or even your dad’s business mens shirts. Aside from clothes, you can also create accessories such as bracelets, earrings and necklace.
